Poole accepts faculty position at Montana State University |
|
Geoffrey Poole, Senior Research Scientist and President of Eco-metrics, Inc. has recently accepted a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences (better known as “LRES”) at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT.
As an Assistant Professor of Fluvial Landscape Ecology, Poole will provide expertise in geospatial analysis to the department and broader campus community, while focusing his own research on the spatial ecology of stream and river ecosystems. His position starts in September of 2008, at which point he will move his externally funded research program to Montana State, establish a research laboratory on campus, and begin mentoring graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Poole is currently seeking several bright, motivated individuals to fill graduate research assistantships for Ph.D. students. These positions will start in mid-August, 2008.
In September 2009, Poole will begin teaching an undergraduate course at Montana State in Stream Restoration Ecology and expects to add a graduate course focusing on research applications for geospatial analysis in natural resources starting in 2010. Until his faculty position begins, Poole will focus on finalizing his existing research contracts at Eco-metrics, Inc. and developing collaborative grant proposals to support his research program at Montana State.
As a graduate of The University of Montana, Poole has been branded a traitor by more than one colleague! But in the end, he couldn’t be more excited about his new station in life as a Bobcat!
